24 Jun Network from the comfort of your home – Northamptonshire’s first Business Online Showcase
An events expert from Northamptonshire is launching the county’s very first Business Online Showcase – an exhibition-style networking event set to take place in July.
Kerry Bate, who runs Polka Dot Events, has planned this interactive event to bring businesses from around the UK together into an online space.
Kerry, owner of the events management company, said: “Since COVID-19 swept the globe many of us have become used to meeting and chatting via the likes of Zoom and Skype. This is totally different though.
“This showcase will use technology that will enable visitors to take charge of where they go, who they talk to and what they see. Visitors will log in, receive a floorplan and there will be 20 exhibition rooms, two keynote speakers and even a virtual cafe – which people can pop into to see what chat is being had over a cuppa.”
This Business Online Showcase will take place on Wednesday, 29 July. There will be two sessions: 10am to 12noon and 1pm to 3pm. There is a £5 entrance fee, all of which Kerry is donating to the charity AGE UK.
Kerry added: “This is all about bringing businesses back to business. I love bringing people together which is why I am so passionate about events. So many small businesses are struggling right now and can’t physically go out to promote themselves. Coronavirus has forced so many of us to work differently and think creatively so I wanted to design an event to help businesses interact, chat, exchange business cards and support each other.”
Five people will be able to enter a room at any one time, with Kerry managing the itinerary and flow of the event from the comfort of her home office.
A maximum of 120 delegates will be able to attend each session and there will be 20 companies exhibiting.
Already lined up to exhibit are a design company, marketing specialist, social media expert and project planning company. More exhibitors are sought (it is £40 to sponsor a room) but Kerry is keen to stress that she is seeking a wide range of different businesses, from varying sectors – to guarantee there is something for everyone who attends.
Supporting and helping to promote this event is PR and social media company Pilkington Communications. Director Jessica Pilkington explained: “It is so inspiring to see fellow business owners thinking so innovatively and out of the box. This type of networking – where a visitor has control over where they go, who they talk to and when they arrive and leave – is a refreshing alternative to the usual online networking calls.
“We are proudly supporting this event and look forward to meeting, albeit in an online world, many businesses from across the country.
